Centre Township Fire Department

"Pride of the South Side"

  Started in 1948, Centre Township is located on the south side of the South Bend in St. Joseph County. The Township includes mostly residential and commercial areas including a large portion of the heavily traveled US-31 corridor. The fire department also covers a portion of Greene Township. Centre Township provides Fire, Rescue, and BLS protection to approximately 10,000 residents in Centre and Greene Townships. ALS services are operated by South Bend Fire and supported by St. Joseph County. Centre Township is a combination department with 6 full-time Firefighters and supplemented by volunteers for larger incidents. We will soon be changing our name to Southwest Central Fire Territory.  We are joining forces with Portage and Greene Townships to provide better and faster response to your emergency.
